With Book, Music & Lyrics by Meredith Willson, this 6-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. This Broadway Gem boasts a one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads including 'Till There Was You', 'My White Knight', 'Shipoopi', 'Ya Got Trouble' and, of course, '76 Trombones'.
Brought to the stage of the iconic Woodstock Playhouse featuring the Woodstock Playhouse Summer Theatre Cast 2018, a regional company of professional performers widely acclaimed for some of the finest performances in our NY & Tri-State region.
Story: The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a kids' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
Length of Performance: 2 hours and 40 minutes with intermission
