Music of the People

The first concert of the new season is conducted by William Stevens. William is an educator and band conductor in the Arlington School District and has been a guest conductor with the Northern Dutchess Symphony and with the WSO in our Woodstock Chamber Orchestra days. He is also a sought-after clarinetist in the mid-Hudson Valley music world. His program, titled 'Music of the People' includes the tone poems 'The Banks of Green Willow' by George Butterworth and 'Wood Notes' by William Grant Still, as well as the overture to 'Bastien et Bastienne' by Mozart and Beethoven's 'Symphony No. 3: 'Eroica'.

Circles

The second WSO concert of the season is led by Carolyn Lechusza Aquallo, who lives in Kingston, has master's degrees in music education and cello performance, and has conducted the Civic Youth Orchestra of Escondido, CA. Carolyn has also played cello with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra and studied under former WCO Music Director Luis Garcia-Renart. Her program, titled 'Circles' will include a new work by composer Akua Dixon, 'Circling', the 'Overture to Jessonda' by Louis Spohr, Mozart's 'Symphony No. 40', and Beethoven's 'Symphony No. 4'.

Open the Door

The third WSO concert of the season will be conducted by Adam Fontana. Adam lives in New Paltz and is an assistant professor of music at SUNY New Paltz, where he conducts the Symphonic Band, serves as interim director of the College-Youth Symphony, and teaches courses in music and music education. He holds degrees in music education and conducting from SUNY Potsdam, Columbia University-Teachers College, The Hartt School, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music & Dance. His program includes a new work by Gwyneth Walker titled 'Open the Door' (also the title of this concert), along with the Overture to Mozart's 'The Magic Flute', Mendelssohn's 'Hebrides Overture', and Beethoven's 'Symphony No. 7'.

Masterpieces

The final concert of the WSO season is led by Mina Kim who is the conductor of the Purchase Symphony Orchestra at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music. She has a MM degree from Mannes College of Music in New York City, where she was assistant conductor of the Mannes American Contemporary Ensemble and was the chorus master and opera coach of the Mannes Opera in the 2015-2018 season. Mina Kim's program includes Elgar's 'Enigma Variations' and Beethoven's 'Symphony No. 5'.
