Join us for our Theatre for Children presentation during this 2023 Woodstock Playhouse Theatre Festival Season as we celebrate the 85th season of the Woodstock Playhouse; originally established in 1938 by Robert Elwyn, a Woodstock Resident, Broadway/Film professional director/actor and member of one of Woodstock's oldest families.

Rats are taking over Hamelin, eating everything in sight and frightening the citizens! Nobody, including the greedy mayor, knows what to do. Even Duchess Dingaling is at her wit’s end. Rattytatty, the pest control officer, admits defeat. Who should turn up but an odd young gentleman who calls himself the Pied Piper? In return for getting rid of the pests, he sets a fee of one thousand guilders. The town agrees. True to his claim, the Piper disposes of the cheese nibblers. However, the townsfolk claim they are too poor to pay. In retaliation, the Pied Piper leads the children from the town and hides them within a magic mountain. The townsfolk realize their error and search for the mysterious musician. The slap-happy characters and silliness ensues with fun for all.

The Grimms Brothers Fairytale finds a new twist with contemporary characters who spin out the ancient cautionary tale based on an historic real story. Fiction and fantasy meet the present day as silliness, eeriness and the story of a small town who confront their mayor to make changes for the better. A great story for the whole family with laughs and lessons for all.
