Embark on a fascinating journey in the theatre as 'EVITA' charts the young and ambitious Eva Peron’s meteoric rise to sainthood. Set in Argentina between 1934-1952, the Tony/Laurence Olivier/Drama Desk/Grammy/Academy Award-Winning musical follows Eva Duarte on her journey from poor illegitimate child to ambitious actress to, as wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Peron, the most powerful woman in Latin America, before her death from cancer at age 33.
Your host for the evening? Ernesto Che Geuvara; the revolutionary who has become the symbol for counterculture and rebellion throughout the world. Through song, Che narrates and comments on Evita’s life. Well-known numbers from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical masterpiece include “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Oh What a Circus,” “Buenos Aires” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.”
This performance is brought to the stage of the iconic Woodstock Playhouse introducing an Argentine rising professional talent as Eva Peron and featuring the Woodstock Playhouse Summer Theatre Cast 2021, a regional company of rising-professional performers widely acclaimed for some of the finest performances in our NY & Tri-State region.
